Smokin' It Is Smokin' Hot!

Smokin' It Electric BBQ Smoker
The Smokin' It electric bbq smoker oozes quality in material, workmanship and - most importantly - performance.

Backed by customer support that is fast becoming legendary amongst its buyers, this smoker lives up to the manufacturer's aim of building an easy-to-use product, probably the easiest of all smokers on the market. Based in Fairlawn, Ohio, Smokin' It has become known for the pride it takes in their smokers and for being super helpful towards their customers.

The interior of the cooker is well-insulated with the door closed
. With heat circulating inside, food is evenly cooked every time. Cooking times are also much shorter than with traditional side-smokers.

PRODUCT DETAILS

According to the manufacturer, the Smokin' It #1 model has a capacity for about 21 pounds of meat. Sporting four rubber wheels, it is highly maneuverable, a convenience that can only make your life so much easier when it comes to cleaning and stowing.

Built from 18-guage stainless steel, you can be assured of many years' rust-free service.

350 Watt heating element gives you a thermostat-controlled range of 100
°F - 250°F, drawing 8 amps at 120 volt single phase.

It also comes with two stainless steel grilling racks (there is space for three inside the unit), a smoke box and a drip pan.

A sample of hickory wood is provided with your purchase, so that you can get going straight away.

SMOKIN' IT RECOMMENDS...

Before putting your new Smokin' It to use, it is important to season it, as follows:

  1. Place two pieces of the sample wood into the wood box.
  2. Completely close the wood box lid and slide it over the heating element.
  3. Remove the shelves, then close and latch the door of the smoker.
  4. Cover the top of the wood box lid and also the bottom of the smoker with aluminum foil.
  5. Set the temperature control to 250°F.
  6. Run empty smoker for 3 to 4 hours.

Smokin' It smoker range

  • You should not pre-heat your smoker before use.
  • Remove any grease or scale from the interior of your smoker on a regular basis. This will prevent flare-ups or fire.
  • Regularly clean the removable shelves and side rails in a dishwasher.
  • Do not remove the seasoning on the interior of the smoker walls, as this improves the flavor of the food.
  • Do not add more wood during smoking. The wood box is extremely hot and can cause serious burns if touched.

From experience, users have commented that there is really enough smoke for great taste from the initial load of flavoring wood. Adding wood may well cause over-smoking, which results in a bitter or burnt taste.

RIGHT HOOK TO THE RIBS

If you want to smoke more than two racks of ribs, you need to purchase extra rib hooks from the manufacturer's website and follow this plan, which was submitted in the forums by a resourceful Smokin' It user:

"I was able to use those hooks to hang SIX full slabs of baby back ribs using only one of the racks, and they all fit perfectly. All I had to do was cut each slab in half, run the hooks through each half-slab (you get 12 in the set), and hang them from the rack on the upper-most position."

Operating the Smokin' It #1 Smoker

Watch Steve Lamier demonstrate how easy
it is to operate the Smokin' It #1 smoker.
Just 3 hours to succulent, delicious ribs!

Although you can use a water pan to enhance the moisture retention in the meat, many users find that there is enough moisture without a water pan due to the insulated design of the smoker. Experiment to see which result you prefer!

If you find that you need to use an extension cord, a suggested specification is 10 gauge 25 inch.

The Smokin' It #1 does not come with a temperature gauge, but it is always useful to have an accurate indication of the temperature in the unit, as well as to check whether your food is cooked to perfection, by means of a meat thermometer. This can be run through the top vent, which is better than running it through the door and possibly damaging it. The cabin temperature may fluctuate all the time, but you should be ok if it averages out to your desired setting over the course of the session.

WHAT THEY SAY

"...a no-fuss, easy way to get amazing smoked food..."

"...ridiculously easy to use... spare ribs were absolutely incredible!"

"...an exceptional smoker at a reasonable price..."

"If you're serious about a smoker, then this is the one you want!
